If you’re getting enough sleep but you still feel tired and drained all the time, it’s possible that you have problems with your mitochondria.
Let’s talk about why this could be the case.
Mitochondria are the parts of your cells that make energy.
We typically think of them as “the powerhouse of the cells,” and they are – but they also sense what is going on in the environment, communicate important information throughout your body, and keep cancerous cells in check.
If your mitochondria are damaged, they will be ineffective at producing energy and keeping your cells healthy and responsive.
The result can be any sort of aging, disease or inflammation, but usually ongoing fatigue is the FIRST indicator that something is off.
Your mitochondria are very delicate and sensitive to stress, nutritional deficiencies, and especially toxins.
They can also become damaged by viruses, fungus, toxins, heavy metals, high blood sugar, and other sources of inflammation.
So if your mitochondria are under attack by any of these things, it won’t really matter how much sleep you get.
(This is also why temporary hacks like energy drinks and coffee don’t help that much.)
Until your mitochondria are relieved from whatever is stressing them, they won’t be able to make energy for you, and you’ll feel tired all the time.
But when your body has the nourishment it needs and your mitochondria are functioning like they’re supposed to, you will wake up every morning feeling refreshed and energized.
You’ll have the capacity to handle life’s daily tasks and challenges without crashing at the end of the day, leaving you time to spend with your family, socialize or do the activities you enjoy.
